I thought it should be possible to do this with JavaScript, but I
didn't find a way to get at the open windows/tabs to query them all
for their URLs. (Also, since I'm new to JavaScript, I'm not sure how
to write the collected information to disk.)

That would require some Mozilla-only programming. It could very well
be possible (accessing the chrome using XUL), but I would expect a
Mozilla group to be a better place to ask for the details of that.
