Default multiple browsers on one computer - 07-20-2004 , 10:17 AM

Please do not flame (unless you're flaming MS). I'm a dedicated javascript
programmer and have supported this ng, not just a taker. I have spent the
last two hours trying to download IE6 but I can only get the SP1 update
which wants to trash my 5.0 install. I would like to have both v5.0 and 6.0
on my computer for dev purposes.(yes I am writing browser specific hta
apps). Can I download the full version of IE6 somewhere or install it from a
Windows installation disk? I once had different versions of Netscape running
from different drives along with IE and no problems. There must be some of
you guys out there who have this working. I'd appreciate any links or
explanations.

As far as I know, you can only have one version of IE installed at any one
time. I'd say this is because IE is so tightly integrated with the windows
OS. So, having said that, I can now flame MS ;-)

Maybe an idea could be to install different Windows with different IE
versions in some VMWare virtual machine.

There are many useful Firefox add-ins for web-developers and there might
be one for the thing you want. How about this one:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6455 (I havn't used it
myself and I did not study the details, I leave that up to you).
