Default Bad JPG - 06-10-2005 , 12:34 PM

What is wrong with this jpg...

http://www.joebarta.com/bad_jpg/sample.jpg

It does not show up in IE or Netscape.
It does show up in Opera.
It opens up in Irfanview & PSP just fine and without incident.
It has an unusually large filesize, yet does not appear to be a mis-
named bmp.

Any ideas?

The image, along with one that does show up is in the page below...

Both Paint and Photo Editor say sample.jpg is not a valid JPEG
file.
GIMP opens it, but complains:

Error on line 1 char 1: Document was empty or contained only whitespace

(You'll probably get better advice in an images group, btw...)

Firefox:
The image “http://www.joebarta.com/bad_jpg/sample.jpg” cannot be displayed,
because it contains errors.

It's CMYK for starters. I changed it to RGB and saved it again and not
only does it now display in all browsers but it's also a tenth of the
filesize (77kb vs 770kb before).

Joe, just thought I would say thanks for introducing me to HTML *years
and years ago* back when your tutorials were free. Heck, I might even
have a copy of 4.x on a pair of floppy disks still kicking around.

Anyway, thanks. It was fun. }:O)
