text clipping and other weird IE6 behavior

I have a blog script that is a customized version of Word Press
(wordpress.org) at http://www.web-ho.com/blog/

Because of the way it evolved, some of the CSS may not be the best, I have
tended to keep the default style sheet and add my modifications. The style
sheet itself is at http://www.web-ho.com/blog/layout2b.css

I use Mozilla 1.4.1 and don't see any problem, while the other member of
the team, who uses I.E. 6, has problems with formatting on two different
machines (at home and at work). A horizontal rule <hr> causes the
preceeding text to be clipped more or less randomly, sometimes across a
text line, sometimes in the middle of a word. Scrolling or reloading may
or may not clear the problem temporarily. This is currently visible for
him on the post for Friday, October 31st, 2003 entitled "I Wanna Be Your
Kazoo!" in the last two paragraphs.

One problem he also had was with a post that began with images: the text
for that post was too big, it had lost the font size defined in the
config. This problem was solved by inserting a closing paragraph tag and
reopening a fresh paragraph between images and text: ... images </p><p>
text...

I haven't found mention of such problems in my search of the Word Press
support forum and so far nobody has offered any solution there. Is it
something others have seen and dealt with? Do any of you have similar
problems when viewing our page?

A second problem that just cropped up has to do with the first image link
at the bottom of the right hand column ("i'm on the map"). Again, I see no
problem, but whenever his mouse passes over that link, the image jumps
down by about 15 pixels, and it keeps doing so for every pass until the
image disappears into the green background below. The active link area
remains in place, however; only the image moves. The second image, the
Word Press link, is OK. The structure there is that of nested UL lists,
and is the same for the text links above, which don't seem to suffer from
this wandering illness.

Do others see the same problems? And are there suggestions on how to
minimize them until I.E. gets fixed, if bugs are indeed the problem?
