I know this isn't strictly related to the group but it's still in the
web developer sphere so I figured it would make sense to ask here
anyway.

When IE7 was the current browser I used a package called MultipleIEs
to also install IE 6 for testing purposes. As I needed the ability to
test in IE6 I helf off on upgrading to IE8 so I could use this
packagee.

Recently I discovered the Internet Explorer collection (http://
finalbuilds.edskes.net/iecollection.htm) which includes a standalone
version of IE7 as well as 6, making me feel that it would now be safe
to install IE 8. I downloaded and installed the package (1.4.0 if I
remember correctly) and did indeed get a working version of 6 7 and 8
on the same machine.

However I quickly ran into a big problem - Input fields seem to be
completely disabled. You can't enter text into them. I need to be
able to do this so I can log into and use the CMS I'm responsible for
development work on. Without the ability to enter anything into forms
the only bit I can test is the appearance of the login page.

Does anyone else have experience of this package and how to enable
forms? If so I'd appreciate being told how to do it!

If you need to test server side, use another browser. Your server side
stuff isn't going to care about the client anyway.

I need to test the client side, the CSS and the Javascript, for which
the client is all important. Some users of the system are still going
to be on IE6 and I can't do anything about that because they're all on
a corporate intranet. That's why I have to test fully in IE6,
something I can't do if I can't log in.

Hi,

Did you find a way to solve your problem ? I'm having the exact same
issue.

In the end I just uninstalled IE8 and went back to IE7 plus multiple
IEs. IE8 testing will just have to wait till there's a way of having
the older browsers on a system without forms disabled.
