Default Mac VS PC CSS Rendering Issues - 06-04-2004 , 06:12 PM

For the most part I think I have it rendering correctly on Opera 7.5,
Firefox .8, and IE 6 for Windows (the only exception is IE 6 for
windows adds an extra space between the Top Nav and the Left
Nav/Content Area, kind of annoying but not enough to ruin the layout).

However if I load it up on IE 5.2 Mac, Pushes the content to be bellow
the Left Navigation

It seems to render ok on Safari as it renders similar to Opera 7 and
Firefox .8, however it renders the Left Nav funky (which if I had to
guess has something to do with a Bad implementation of the Box Model?)

I have already run the site through validator.w3.org's, htmlhelp.com's
and jigsaw.w3.org's validators for HTML and CSS, and it says I pass
with no errors.

The test page is located here:
http://www.goldhil.com/template/

My Goal is to convert the original table based layout to a standards
based page.
The original is located here: http://www.goldhil.com/index2.asp

Sincerely,
The Master

P.S. I'm new to this CSS so please forgive my ignorance.

Default Mac IE 5.2 is really screwing the Style Sheet up... - 06-09-2004 , 11:57 PM

Ok I've retested the page in these browsers:
IE 5.01sp2, 5.5sp2, 6.0.2 Opera (4, 5, 6 & 7.5), Mozilla (1.0 & 1.4),
Firfox .8 Netscape (6.0.2, 7.0 & 7.1) (mac & PC), Safari, and IE 5.2
(mac).

It screws up on Opera 4-6 due to the Floating used in the top and
bottom navigation, though only the bottom navigation really screws up.

With the exception of IE 5.2 for Mac I have it rendering perfect in
all aformentioned browsers. and for the Most part IE 5.2 renders it
correct until it reaches the search input box. Then it takes what ever
comes after it and pushes it be way bellow the view port like there
was 100s of <br>. If it was just normaly braking I would thick that it
would just wrap to be just bellow the Left Navigation bar, but not
only wraps down but it goes way down to the point one has to scroll
for a long while before you see the content.

Not only that but the top nav gets slightly cliped by the image. now
that I think about its almost like the image in the top nav is has a
default z-index that's higher than the text. I'm going to have to try
that assumtion out when I get back into work tomarrow.

Thanks,
The Master
