I crosspost and followup to comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets
because we're not really on the webcomic topic any more

It should be ugly but perfectly readable with IE.
Well, boxes full of text and stuff come out on top of the comic, and
yeah, I can read the stuff in the boxes perfectly.

All the discussion sent me over - just to add to your data, I am using
IE 6.0 and the comments box displays on top of the comic. I can see
about the top 1/3 of the strip.
Does it comes out well if you reload it ?

I've got a theory: the page is rendered before the image is loaded, then
IE loads the image but doesn't re-render the page.

I certainly can give the image a predefined size, but it's so stupid it
make me angry. If that's the problem, then IE really sucks. But I can't
reproduce the bug (I saw it one time and now it's away) so I can't run
tests.

Love it or hate it, a hellovalot of your viewers are going to be using
IE.
I know that. Still, only 20% of my viewers used IE (46% mozilla, 27%
firefox), which certainly mean my viewers have good taste ^^l

My advice - apply the KISS factor and try to make the page work
for the widest variety of browsers. They just want to see your work.
Well, it quite simple actually: a <body> with a big padding-left
(for the menu) and the DIVs are one after another, that's all.

ronnie (who curses the ongoing complexification of www coding)
Well, with great power comes great resp... I mean with great page
design, comes complex code...

Anyway, thanks very much for your feedback.
