[Apologies if this is more or less a duplicate, but I think the news
server at work ate the message I posted this morning. If it turns up
I'll cancel one of them.]

On my monitor at work, which runs a little dark, the punkin' color
behind the text is right on the line for readability. On this laptop
it looks good (depending on the viewing angle). I'd appreciate a look
from some folks with different monitors.

It's Movable Type, so it's got lots of px sizes. I got rid of some of
them, but I haven't got to them all yet.

Anybody who can shed some light on the darkness evidenced by
"Slouching toward XHTML" and is kind enough to respond, here or there,
would be appreciated.

The voices are telling me that viza <none (AT) example (DOT) invalid> wrote on 06

Surely you don't pronounce it "pump-kin" do you? What are you, some
kind of yankee? ;-)

is there another way? "Content-Language: en-EN" :-)
en-Alabama here. I'll bet you don't pronounce "URL" to rhyme with
"squirrel", do you? ;-)

Thanks to the folks who looked and wrote. I think I've followed all your
suggestions now. One of the folks on the list who wrote me off the list,
so I'm not sure I should identify hir, clued me in to
<http://www.easyrgb.com/>. That was *exactly* what I needed.

The green I ended up using on the calendar came from easyrgb, but I
thought it was just a touch too light, so I darkened it a bit with
<http://www.crispen.org/src/#htmlcolor>.

That's a really dumb little Win32 program I wrote a while back: all it is
is a color picker control that, when you exit, copies the color you last
looked at to the clipboard. Not exactly rocket science. The way I use
it is to copy the RGB values of the color that was too light or too dark
into the control and then nudge the little slider up or down.

Thanks again,
