Default Any decent printable CSS tutorials around? - 01-17-2006 , 03:38 PM

Hello,

Following the links in the FAQ, and a search on Google, I've been trying
to find a decent tutorial on CSS that I can print. I find reading on
screen quite hard, and would like something to get me going.

I've found loads of pages with examples, some of which have
explanations, but nothing that gives a comprehensive explanation of how
things work. The odd few that do (like the W3Schools one) aren't
printer-friendly.

So, any recommendations? I should point out that I'm not really looking
for basic stuff, I already know how to do font sizes, colours, etc with
CSS. I'm really looking for something that will explain how to do
layouts. I have saved loads and loads of examples, and have been looking
up the various bits in the docs to find out why they are there, but
something that walks you through building a layout would be really good.

Thanks in advance.

Have you bought any books? For the cost of printing much material
out, you might consider a book or two. The O'Reilly books are
usually good. Here's links to Amazon, you can get CSS The
Definitive Guide used for $4 USD plus shipping when I looked.

If you're feeling generous, add a /rock13 on the end of the URL.
Or grab the ISBNs and check elsewhere.

I haven't yet, partly because I'm looking to see what is recommended
before shelling out the money. Printing web articles is actually far
cheaper than buying books, and is a good way to get going.

However...

Thanks for the recommendations. I will have a look and see. I have also
seen recommendations for "Eric Meyer on CSS" and "More Eric Meyer on
CSS." Any comments on these two?

I would happily add your reference, but as I'm in the UK, it's much
cheaper for me to buy them from the UK site, and I don't think your
reference will work there. Sorry.

Thanks very much for the reply.
