Default Website testers required - 06-13-2008 , 05:30 AM

Hi,

Is there a newsgroup I can post a link to my site to invite users to test
it?

Specifically I need people to test the checkout process.

Many thanks

Andy

Only if you have a thick skin and can take some criticism without
running away crying, otherwise you need to test it in
imjustapussy.com

alt.html.critique

Also the general newsgroups alt.html, c.i.w.ah will attract most of
the usual suspects.

Post a URL, not a fragment or a pageful of code.

Validate the code before asking, or you'll just be told to go off and
do it anyway.

Use a sensible doctype declaration

Don't say, "It works in IE, how do I make it work for others?" You do
that by getting it to work right _first_, then making it work for IE.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The only thing that concerns me (as some of you have mentioned) is that my
site breaks ALL the rules... frames, JavaScript, doesn't validate etc etc
and that always seems to attract negative responses from the net nannies.

Funny thing is most of the really big sites (Google for example) don't
validate

Thanks

Andy

Gigantic sites coded before the standards movement gained pace which have
been tested by proxy by just about everyone on the planet not following
standards is no reason for you not to. The fact that they persist in using
legacy code demonstrates one of the fundamental reasons for using
standards - that updating and maintaining non-standard code is a vastly more
arduous task than updating and maintaining standard code.

If you want web professionals and enthusiasts to offer their expert advice
on your site then here or alt.html.critique is the place to go and yes, we
will all tell you to stop using frames and to use standard code (no problem
with JavaScript as long as it's used as an add-on and not for any mission
critical or malicious purpose).

If you just need mouse clicks to test your checkout process then I would
suggest using friends, family and potential users.

And I have a HUGE dick, but that does not mean that ALL people named
Travis have huge dicks....

(actually that analogy makes no sense at all, but I wanted to brag
about my HUGE dick)

So, you like the girls who prefer quantity over quality. You probably
prefer quantitties as well. ;-)
Why do you assume the two are mutually exclusive...
