Image - as download able .jpg or .gif

I know this must sound crazy. But i´ll try anyway
I just can´t get this straight

I have a website - and i want to make some of the images download
able ..
Ex. click on the image - and you will download it as "picture-
name.jpg"

You know - download it, instead of viewing it !!


look at this ex. : Try clicking on the images in the top ( where the
Google result is )

How do i make my images download able ??

- if i do the tag underneath - it will only popup in a new window
( This tag is on a image ) -

Can i make a download able HTML tag - only with text - and, not on a
image ??

You're trying to reinvent the wheel. Just include instructions on the
page, eg:

"Right click and save image" or "Ctrl-Click and save image"

Of course, this is only allowing the user to copy the image to a
convenient location. The image is already in the users's cache.
