a bit OT but..

Can anyone recommend a cheap(yup!) text manipulating program that'll bend,
shape, twist, distort, contour, text every which way but loose- that will
allow me
total control over text for website publishing.

Any good text editor should do the job.

As I understand your request, you want to turn text into art, as jpeg or gif

or whatever.
MSword or any good word processor such as WordPerfect or OpenOffice will do
that job.
Also, any good image processor such as 'the gimp' will turn text into art,
and give you more control over what you do and how you save it.

I have not seen any way to distort text and still have it have any 'text'
characteristics.
