Default linking to same exact image on 5 different servers, from the samehtml page, is it DOABLE?(test purpose) - 08-19-2005 , 04:47 PM

I'm trying to determine, with 'side by side comparison', which free
image host seems most reliable and loads the fastest...(this is a 'test
page' obviosly, not one designed for 'real world use')

I've upped the same image to five different free image host servers, but
I'm having trouble getting them to all load on the same page, the same
size..(might have to do with 'caching', perhaps? or them all being named
the same exact thing?) next I'm gonna try flipping and inverting some,
and renaming ALL of 'em, but still using the same exact image (same
size, same dimensions, some flipped, some inverted, and all renamed)

(assuming all the webservers are "up" online) =IS= this gonna work? or
is there some reason why it definitely will NOT work? please do tell

while you're here: is it possible to have an XHTML page "call to" the
same exact external CSS document, named the same thing, in reality
"exact twins of each other", except two of 'em would reside on different
servers, but they'd both be linked to from the very SAME webpage? (this
has to do with 'styling' ebay listings, and with wether, if one server
'goes down', will the other 'stand in to serve up the CSS goods'?)

yes, i realize these approaches may be 'outside the ordinary', but we
can discuss that later, OK?

thanks for educating me,

toolie-man

And the address of this test page?

Shouldn't be causing a problem. Can you explain more what your problem
is? Do none of them appear? Do some appear? Do you get an error thrown up?
As for as the HTML parser is concerned, you're inserting 5 images from
different places (in this case different servers, but it would equally
apply to different folders) - the fact they're all have the same file name
is irrelevant - if I wanted to insert the same picture of a dog onto one
page, wouldn't complain, would it?

Yep, you should be able to just have two links - though the CSS in the
second one would overrule any corresponding CSS from the first one, but
if you're planning on being them both the same, there shouldn't be a
problem.

They are not all named the exact same thing.
