Layers

I am trying to make links open in another layer on the same page. Anyone
of you surely knows how this is done. Could you please help me??

You can't.

You could use an iframe instead.

With insanely complex, and unreliable, XMLHTTP and DOM voodoo. Forget it.
The safe, sane, search engine friendly, user friendly way to do this is to
make a new document for each "view", and duplicate any shared content on
each.
