Default Rich text field element - 03-14-2005 , 11:37 AM

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good (or, at
least decent) and ideally free rich text field control written in
javascript? We've been using the one that came with Micro-
soft's sharepoint server but we've just been made aware of
some licensing issues and are going to need to stop using it.
I've been looking around for a replacement but all the ones
I've found thus far are not only not free but they have a very
(very, very) expensive licensing fee.

So any suggestions anyone might have for a free (or inexpensive)
rich text field control would be very much appreciated!

thnx,
Christoph

Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, and I don't know
how good it is for others, but I've been using it for quite a while:
http://www.koivi.com/WYSIWYG-Editor/

I've rewritten it twice (last time to OO JS), and released it under
LGPL. I'm sure there are things in there that could be done much better,
but my js knowledge is actually quite limited, and I had a few
challenges when it came to the midas/mshtml api differences. Still
waiting to see if Opera or Safari are going to release some kind of API
for this as well...
