streaming content

this may be the wrong group to post in, but...

I am interested in setting up live streaming audio content for my website.
I'm not sure where to start with this, I run my own webserver and know
enough about that and web programming, but was wondering if someone could
help me find the live streaming software I would need to run on my
webserver. I am assuming that I would use certain software for this, but
please, someone help me out.
