Image with mouseovers

Greetings all:

As advertised, I wish to make an image with mouseovers - IE,
descriptive text when you go over a certain part of the image. Do I
need to break the picture into a bunch of pieces, or is there a way to
do it while keeping the photo intact?

Use an image-map.
